MapleStory 2 is releasing worldwide, closed beta sign-up open today

The first 2D side-scrolling MapleStory created a big splash on the MMORPG scene back in 2003 in South Korea and would do the same using its North American release in 2005. That trend seems to continue with another very long release cycle for Cheap Maplestory Mesos. Publisher Nexon America announced the game will be releasing internationally, after nearly 3 years from its original South Korean launch in 2015, with a shiny brand new trailer on the weekend.

For those of you interested in getting in on the blocky action when you can, the sign-up for the closed beta is available for anyone living in the Americas, Europe, or Oceania and will probably be starting May 9. According to Nexon, MapleStory 2 takes place within precisely the same universe as the original but also acts as a prequel. Also, regardless of the announcement of a worldwide release, an official date has not yet been announced.

Even though the course system appears to be nowhere near what it was in the first match, Nexon promises this game will be much more customizable than the first, from customizing your character's outfits, to even building your own house.

MapleStory 2 comes West using a closed beta starting in May

MapleStory 2 launched in Korea back in 2015, but today it is finally time for the free-to-play MMO to create its way to Western shores. Taking the world into a block-based next dimension, MapleStory 2 will begin a closed beta.

All those courses have a exceptional story detailing an increase from modest origins through your rise among the great heroes of the planet.

Customization is key, with MS Mesos a wide variety of tools to construct your corner of the world however you'd like. This means building your own house, customizing your character how you like, or getting all fashionista to produce your own outfits.

That shut beta begins on May 9.
